As part of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week, the Foam photography museum will be exhibiting the works of my friend Mylou Oord. I like her self-taught style a lot, the resulting work is often raw, impromptu and to an extent autobiographical. The showing starts January 24th and will run til 24 March 24th. Vintage Noise

As I've stated before, I always love to check out and learn about new and/or interesting music, be it MP3's, obscure vinyl or mixed cd's. My homie Frank laced me with a formidable cd which is part of his Qubiq/Quarters Q123 capsule collection.

The mix titled "Vintage Noise" is compiled and mixed by Kojiro, who's a respected underground DJ and the least known (but not for long) member of Fragment Design. As the title suggests, it features a selection of dope funk and soul classics and to make it live up to the title sonically, the vinyl mix was recorded through the magnificent vintage Bozak mixer for that og flavor. Kojiro's own sleeve design is the icing on the cake. Cheers for this one Frank!

A cellphone's a celly

Surfing the web on a more than regular basis, I often come across some some amazingly bad cellphone photographs not worthy of pressing the publish button on Wordpress. Some however, are just simply amazing. For the past 2 years, staff photo journalist Shawn Rocco from News & Observer (Raleigh, North Carolina. Little Brother what up!) has often been swapping his DSLR for the ancient 1.3 megapixel Motorola E815 flip phone, creating a personal style dubbed "cellular obscura" and even winning awards for personal documentary work.
It's all about imagination, not the equipment.
